I've seen lots of bloggers lately wearing dresses as skirts or tops. Why didn't I think of that?!
This red pleated dress is another from my Mum's 1970's collection. However, for my everyday wardrobe this red dress was a "bit much". So I added a chambray shirt and now I feel like I can wear it out in the daytime without people wondering "where is she going?".
Of course I am wearing satin bow heels, but why not?!

DeleteThat skirt works perfectly as a dress, and is so nice with the chambray shirt! :) I used to do the maxi skirt as a dress thing when I was younger. I used similar tricks to fold over maxi dresses and belt them to be more like strapless dresses, to change the length, so they fit my petite self, haha!

That's a great idea - unfortunately I don't think I could pull that off with my tall frame!!! x Allison
DeleteOooohhhh what a statement! Love how bright that red is! Perfect for Fall!

I am loving the tied up shirt over a dress! It's such a genius style move isn't it? Bron x
ReplyDeleteThanks Bron! It makes this dress more "Mum Casual"!! x Allison
DeleteYes! I love this trick and you've styled the skirdress (as I call them) perfectly. The nice thing about wearing a dress this way is you can play with proportions as I see you've done by tying your shirt a bit higher than you might be able to do with a regular skirt if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteThat makes perfect sense Beth! I didn't even think of that... or I should pretend that I'm really clever and it was totally intentional... ;-)
DeleteThis is one of my fave ways to re-mix my items in my closet too! I love it :)
